May 22 2025
We are writing to let those who knew Chris, but weren’t aware, that he passed away on the 3rd February, aged 79. He died peacefully, with his family around him, on Champneys ward.
His thanksgiving service on the 17th March, in St Mary’s Church, Putney was very well attended by his family and friends. Touching tributes were given by his brother, Simon and 2 of his sons. It was clear that he was much loved and remembered by everyone who knew him. It was as a soldier in the British Army that he met his wife, Jane, the sister of a fellow officer. His sporting prowess in golf and cricket was matched equally by his love of fly fishing. His impact on his employer, Millers Insurance, was profound, leaving a lasting legacy with his colleagues. In a gesture typical of his selflessness he left his body to science.
Chris was a great servant and benefactor of St George’s Kidney Patients Association. He served as chair of the charity for 15 years during which time he established it as a going concern as well as raising significant funds for us. His cricket match at the HAC put us on a sound financial basis. His wife Jane and friend Margy run the annual carol concert which has been benefiting us for 25 years. Chris and family were significant and frequent donors in their own right. We thank Chris and his family for their generosity and support. He will be greatly missed as a friend and mentor.
Chris leaves behind his wife Jane, 3 sons, their wives and 8 grandchildren.
