2023 AGM of the St George’s Kidney Patient Association - 2nd Sept 11am

August 5 2023
This year's Annual General Meeting of the St George's Kidney Patient Association took place on the Saturday, 2nd September 2023 between 11am & 1pm.
The venue was St George's Hospital, 1st floor Lanesborough Wing, room Hyde Park as well as remote involvement via Zoom.

The AGM was an informative event which covered a wide range of patient topics. Attendance could have been better with 15 people in the room and online.

The event followed the agenda below (Click here for Agenda & Chair's Presentation) and an excellent talk was given by Professor Banerjee, (Care Lead Renal Unit) ably supported by Dr Popoola.

Accounts

Here are our accounts that we will discuss in summary at the meeting:

Reflections on Logistics for the day.

This was the first occasion where we made the AGM available to patients via Zoom. However, only 5 people attended online and feedback from 1 patient was negative as an experience. On the day it proved to be difficult to host the meeting in the room, have different presenters, and limited by room facilities as to where they could stand. The Zoom meeting however was run from the same laptop as used to present and this proved to be problematic. The Zoom Host must use a different device from the presenter and continually checking

As mentioned, attendance was lower, at around half that of years 2016/17/18.  We didn't send out 1000 letters. Instead, we used email, this website, Facebook and posters in the clinics, waiting rooms dialysis centres and wards that renal patients use. We are asking for feedback (info@sgkpa.org.uk) on what would have improved attendance. In particular,

  • More compelling or relevant agenda. (Please suggest topics of more interest)
  • Length of meeting, time of day, day of week, time of year, more notice of meeting etc
  • Receiving an invitation by letter and or improving notice in the clinics and dialysis centres.

Please make also ensure that, if you have not already registered, you can do so, to allow you to vote on matters at the AGM as well as allow us to keep in touch.
