Patient Transport Campaign - ‘Sick of Waiting’

July 27 2014
Dear London KPA Chair

You may recall that I contacted you in June regards the Patient Transport Campaign – ‘Sick of Waiting’ – being led by charity Transport for All (TfA).

The survey collection is entering the final few days and TfA are looking for one final push to get surveys in, and have kindly asked for your help below.

Your help is most appreciated – thank you.

What’s your experience of patient transport?

We’re surveying people about hospital transport https://surveys.qmul.ac.uk/patienttransport

The National Kidney Federation is collaborating with Transport for All to launch Sick of Waiting! - the campaign for reliable, accessible patient transport for everyone who needs it. From patients having to cut short their dialysis because of transport, to patients being left to wait for hours after their appointment, it’s clear that the service needs to improve.

We want to see minimum standards on things like waiting time and eligibility criteria written into patient transport contracts. We want to ensure that NHS Trusts have the power to hold to account the private companies who deliver patient transport.

But we can’t do it without you!

We launched a survey to collect reports (good or bad) of patient transport in London. We will use this evidence to help convince London’s NHS Trusts that patient transport contracts must put patients’ needs first.

Can you forward this to your KPA members, please?
