Free car parking for renal patients

Renal patients at St George' are entitled to free parking.

In order to benefit from this patients must do the following:

  1. Request a form from one of the staff nurses in the Renal Unit. Complete the form and have it signed by the required authority.
  2. Take the completed form to the Estates office reception desk (2nd Floor Grosvenor Wing - lobby) where they will issue you with a photo id. This will be valid for a year. Renewal just requires you to take your old photo id card in and they will replace it with a new one.
  3. Each time you use the car park, get a ticket as normal. On leaving (instead of going to the Pay Stations) take the parking ticket and your photo id to the security office (Ground floor Grosvenor Wing) and they will "endorse" your ticket as if you'd paid. You will have 15 minutes to leave the car park. At the exit barrier, put the "endorsed" ticket in the ticket machine and the barrier will let you out

This facility is only available to patients, not friends or family. However if the patient is travelling with them then the patient can use their photo id to get free parking for the person transporting them. Unfortunately they must be go to security to show their identity card but this is to make sure the card has not been stolen. I'm sure you agree that that is sensible.
